alice in wonderland 1955 - great rabbit face

Right now I feel quite a bit like the white rabbit in this picture. Time just seems to be getting away from me. I can’t seem to catch up.

J’s health situation is finally resolved, with him being mostly his old self. But I’ve lost so much time and momentum over the last year that I’m feeling a bit overwhelmed.

Sorry to have so shamefully neglected my blog for so very long. I have managed to build up a huge amount of photo/links in pinterest for lots of interesting things. Hope you have been enjoying that in my absence.

So here’s to better times ahead.

Giant Jam Sandwich cover

The Giant Jam Sandwich came to me via the library book sale, it’s another book from the Weekly Reader Children’s Book Club. This book is from 1972 and I particularly like the sort of trippy illustration style. And the silly, silly story.

Giant Jam Sandwich 1

First all these wasps hit town.

So the people have a meeting to discuss what to do.

Giant Jam Sandwich 4

Giant Jam Sandwich 6

and a vast quantity of strawberry jam.

Giant Jam Sandwich 7

which attracts and traps the wasps.

Giant Jam Sandwich 8

Problem Solved! So they have a party.

Notice that in the upper right corner some birds are carrying away the giant jam/wasp sandwich wrapped in it’s giant picnic cloth for their dinner.

Happy Leap Day!

Here’s a pretty picture to enjoy while we wait for spring. It’s by German artist Sulamith Wulfing (1901-1989).

I particularly like the way the beetle is carrying the caterpillar in two of it’s arms and propping up a blossom with the other two. Also the red socks on the elderly little fae look quite cheerful.

as in, my word but it’s been rather too hot for quite a lot too many days in a row!

Today it was considerably cooler and I took advantage by popping over to the library and changing my books. Then I ran out of steam so I went to the park with a cool drink and read cookbooks. By the time I left the parking lot was full of other people doing exactly the same thing (well . . . probably not cookbooks).

bug and wog dog outside

Guess I’m not the only one who was experiencing a bit of “gracious, it is nice enough to actually enjoy the outdoors”. Wishing everyone a cool breeze ’til next time.
